Komochikonbu- Herring roe on kelp
The combination of roe and kelp symbolizes fertility, family prosperity, and good fortune for generations to come.
Ikura shoyu-zuke- Salmon roe marinated with soy sauce Red is auspicious color.
Gobo Nanbanzuke - Lightly fried marinated burdock
Kinkan Mitsu Ni - Sweeten kumquat
Kuro Mame from Tanba- Sweeten black soy beans
The bean is pronounced ‘mame’ which implies the industriousness and health in Japanese.
Kuri Kinton- Mashed sweet potato and chestnuts
‘Kin’ means gold, which implies our hope to have abundant fortune in the coming year.
Tazukuri- Small dried sardine
A sardine was used as fertilizers in the rice filed in old days. It symbolizes good harvest.
Datemaki- Rolled sweetened egg omelets
It symbolizes a wish for many auspicious days.
